The course provides an understanding of mathematical foundations as well as a working knowledge of methods used in high frequency asymptotics for wave equations. Foundations of geometrical optics, including its extensions for caustics, and geometrical theory of diffraction are presented and applied to solve wave propagation and diffraction problems
Wave equation, high frequency, propagation, diffraction, asymptotic expansions
